Latrobe Arts Education Membership 2010

Latrobe Regional Gallery and Latrobe Performing Arts are highly successful providers of valid and meaningful arts activities for all ages. The Latrobe Arts team aim to provide quality education within the visual and performing arts through a range of innovative educational programs to meet the personal, professional and academic needs of people across a variety of learning levels.

To become part of the Latrobe Arts' education network and to enjoy the benefits of a School Membership simply complete the attached application forn and return with payment to Latrobe Regional Gallery.

Education Program / Calendar

 

Early Years (Pre-school - 8 years)

The early years education programs focuses on developing the curiosity of the young child in a safe and stimulating arts environment. The Gallery programs encompass activities for pre-school and beginning primary school age children. We also encourage families and small, informal groups to visit the Gallery.

Pre-school and under 5 years

Group workshops in 'Making Pictures' and 'Introduction to the Gallery'
45 minutes Tuesday to Thursday
Group of 6 to 15 children
$2 per person

 

Middle Years (9 to 15 years)

Middle Years programs are based on the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) that include The Arts, Humanities, English and aspects of Interdisciplinary Studies. Teachers are encouraged to discuss the range of current workshops and programs, or suggest activities that the Gallery can design for particualr groups of students.

Drawing Skills

Come in for an introduction to the current exhibition '2008 Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award,' open until 14 March, and follow with a drawing skills workshop.

$2 per student
Groups of 30 students maximum. Art materials included. Bookings essential.

Nolan's Ned Kelly Series

The Gallery is currently exhibiting Sidney Nolan's painting 'The River' which is one of the Ned Kelly series. Students can do some art appreciation in the gallery and follow with art activities in the workshop.

VCE

The Gallery offers a series of interactive writing workshops and seminars that are designed to meet the theoretical requirements of the current 2010 Study Designs in ART and STUDIO ARTS. The term 1 and 2 program features workshops based on the Analytical Frameworks introduced this year, plus a range of practical opportunities for student groups to develop and extend their folios.

Analytical Frameworks workshop

Learn how to apply the Contemporary and Formal Analytical Frameworks in a 'hands-on' workshop. Students will learn practical techniques in order to identify particular artworks in a friendly, interactive atmosphere. All activities are expertly designed to meet VCE Study Design outcomes.

Materials and techniques

Starting Points for folio themes

Broaden your knowledge of art themes and inspiration in preparation for folio development in terms 1 and 2. Students will be introduced to a range of art themes, techniques and styles in art, and will have an opportunity to discuss their initial ideas and thoughts with regard to their own work.

Adult Education

Presented by the Director/Curator, professional practice provides an insight into the possibilities beyond art school within the arts industry. This program is designed to inform emerging artists and prospective arts professionals about the public gallery system. Available throughout the year upon request. More Information >
