From the Sublime to the Ridiculous: Prints from the Latrobe Regional Gallery Collection
27 November 2010 – 6 February 2011
Ostriches on the beach, Victorian frocks and printed follies are some of the scenes from works selected from the Latrobe Regional Gallery print collection that take a serious look at light hearted subject matter. People and figures, varied in arrangement and interpretation remains central to the exhibition, where the sublime and the ridiculous are not necessarily in opposition, but share a sense of the figurative and whimsy. Beautifully constructed forms and rich techniques can be seen in works by artists such as Rick Amor and Peter Blake.
