Edge of Silence
Cbus Collection of Australian Art
11 September 2010 – 13 February 2011
Opening: Friday 1 Oct
Edge of Silence considers our relationships with the land and the connections we experience both physically and psychologically, whether gazing above or mining below. The artists including Bernard Sachs, Sidney Nolan, Russell Drysdale, Peter Booth and Judy Watson explore perceived isolation, loneliness, dislocation, comforting solitude, movement and hope. Like one of Caspar David Friedrich’s wanderers, we experience the cold before dawn and slivers of twilight that slip into depths of silence.
