Eve Duncan and Siri Hayes: Listening Portraits
25 September – 21 November 2010
Gallery 5
Opening: Friday 1 October 6.00pm
Photographer Siri Hayes recently collaborated with music composer Eve Duncan to produce Listening Portraits, a series from a project called ‘Dredge’. The act of dredging becomes a metaphor for uncovering layers as well as a way of investigating environmental degradation and building narrative between the visual and performative musical practices.
The subjects are Eve, the composer, and Speak Percussion musicians who both play the music and become subjects within aspects of the project. Installed as a series, the musicians and Eve face each other in a visual musical dialogue, listening to each other.
