F.J. Norman
Snowblind - Marks in Time
International Power Hazelwood Community Access Gallery
29 October – 27 November 2011
The unacknowledged and overlooked within the urban environment influences the practice of Frederick James Norman. He looks to the urban landscape in search of fragments of colours, marks, drips and writing which form traces of our visual history continuously written and decaying through time. These often despised and dismissed elements are celebrated in the abstract layering of colour and texture in his paintings. Norman embraces the continuous transformation of these fabricated landscapes by celebrating subtle visual shifts.
